Casey Foundation Releases 2010 KIDS COUNT Data Book
According to data released by the Annie E. Casey Foundation in its 2010 KIDS COUNT Data Book, overall improvements in child well-being that began in the late 1990s stalled in the years just before the current economic downturn. The 21st annual KIDS COUNT Data Book profiles the status of America’s children on a national and state-by-state basis and ranks states on 10 measures of well-being. Casey Foundation a Collaborating Funder of Three Social Innovation Fund Award Winners
The inaugural Social Innovation Fund grants were announced on July 23, 2010, by the Corporation for National and Community Service. (Read the Corporation's press release.) Three of the grantees are organizations that support Casey’s Center for Family Economic Success work, and Casey has been recognized as a collaborating funder for each of these winners. Casey congratulates each of the grantees, and is proud that the Foundation’s investments have been leveraged to make an important contribution to using innovation and evidence to tackle social challenges in a new way. Recognized leader in children and family services and governmental reform joins Foundation
Brenda Donald Named Vice President of the Center for Effective Family Services and Systems at the Annie E. Casey Foundation
The Annie E. Casey Foundation has named Brenda Donald to serve as vice president for its Center for Effective Family Services and Systems. Donald was previously the Secretary for the Maryland Department of Human Resources, appointed by Governor Martin O’Malley in February 2007. In her new position as a member of the Foundation’s senior leadership team, Donald will be leading the Center’s work of improving outcomes for children living in the country’s most fragile families.
